Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise that focuses on strengthening and stretching the body through controlled movements. Guided instruction helps you move and breathe through your daily activities with more freedom and power and less pain while also improving flexibility, balance, and posture while also building strength. The Pilates session is a challenging low-impact exercise that balances strength with mobility, aligns the body, fine-tunes movement patterns, and strengthens the deeper muscles of the core. This is conducted in a one-on-one session with an instructor or with as many as three (3) in the session with the instructor.

TheVibrant Niche Pilates practice involves a series of exercises that are performed using a Cadillac reformer, a specialized equipment. These exercises are designed to engage the core muscles of the body, including the abdominals, lower back, and pelvic floor, while also working the arms, legs, and glutes. By strengthening these muscles, Pilates can help improve overall stability and balance, as well as reduce the risk of injury. Meet Dr. Anja

Dr. Anja Huq is a chiropractor licensed by the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners. She received her bachelor’s and Masters of Science from University of Chicago, specializing in Molecular Biology and Genetics and received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West with summa cum laude with honors. She is certified in Active Release Technique (A.R.T.), Fascial Movement Taping (Rocktape), Certified Chiropractic Extremities Practitioner (C.C.E.P), ICPA and Webster Technique (infants and children).

Dr. Anja has dedicated her life to spreading her love of science, chiropractic, and care for people in everything she does. She has collaborated to find causes for enlarged heart syndrome, causes of cervical cancer, and created cures for Hepatitis C. While a student at Life Chiropractic College West she mentored and taught her fellow students to study for their classes, and their board exams after finding challenges for her student colleagues to process and retain the critical info needed to pass. She also interned at UCSF Mission Bay Physical Therapy Center, which helped her understand not only solving immediate pains a patient-client may be experiencing but also ways to teach the patient-client to change their everyday life to avoid such pains.

She is committed to enhancing patient-client’s health by using an integrated approach with the goal of increasing function and reducing pain of her patient-clients. Ying Pan is a massage therapist with 15 years of professional experience, specializing in range of modalities, including deep tissue, sports massage, and myofascial release.

Ying is exceptional at creating a calming environment while educating clients on different activities that are negatively impacting them and how to rectify them through stretching, self-care, and fitness.

We are lucky to have Ying join us. She currently splits her time between Virbrant Niche and an acupuncturist in Los Altos. Ying has extensive experience working in clinical and spa settings. Grace Teo - Licensed Massage Therapist

Grace Teo has over 15 years of experience as a massage therapist, specializing in a variety of Western and Eastern massage modalities. She holds a diploma in Massage Therapy from the National Holistic Institute (NHI) in 2009. She is also certified in Thai Massage by the Wat Po Traditional Medical School in Thailand, and she has extensive hands-on experience in sports massage, Swedish, deep tissue, and myofascial therapies.

Interesting little bit about Grace is that she teaches blind massage therapists techniques and methods for providing massage through palpation and discovery.

Grace has worked in a range of settings, from luxury spas like The Spa Los Gatos and Canyon Ranch to chiropractic clinics such as the Healing Wellness Center, where she collaborated with acupuncturists and chiropractors. Theresa Tomlin is a dedicated and experienced Pilates instructor with over 17 years of professional expertise. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts & Bachelor of Arts Dance/Design from the University of California Los Angeles. Based in Palo Alto, California, she strives to teach students to move efficiently and effectively, emphasizing strength, flexibility, and injury prevention. Theresa excels at teaching large groups and private classes, specializing in Yoga, Pilates Mat, and all Pilates apparatus. She teaches a specialized class, PIYO, blending Yoga and Pilates into one. With a focus on safety and injury prevention, she creates a nurturing environment for her students. As an instructor since 2006, Theresa has guided small group and private classes, specializing in both Mat work and Pilates apparatus. She settled in California to raise her family and spent over 30 years with the YMCA, retiring as the Executive Director of the Sequoia Branch in Redwood City. In 2002, she began her studies with nationally recognized Pilates master teacher, Tom McCook and received the Physical Mind Institute Apparatus, Mat, and Standing Pilates instructor certification. She is also certified as an ACE Personal Trainer and an EnhanceFitness master trainer. She is a lifelong learner and enjoys exploring new techniques through continuous education. Having experienced the benefits of alignment and functional movement first-hand, Julie enjoys teaching group exercise classes and working with clients to develop their own personal movement practice that will improve their strength, flexibility, and joy in pain-free movement.
